PROFILES:

CAMBIO - 2007 marked the year the band switched record labels and released * Matic*, the much-anticipated follow-up to their debut album *Derby Light*. The album marked Kris Gorra-Dancel as the band’s primary frontwoman. And 2007 underlined the band’s spontaneous quality in a live setting with the way they pull off different treatments and arrangements from gig to gig.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cambiomusic/

IMAGO - Imago was not only busy promoting their 2006 album *Blush *(which spawned one of 2007’s most memorable hits, “Sundo”), they were actively participating cover compilation projects (*Kami nAPO Muna Uli*, “Blue Kiss” in the Hershey’s Centennial Celebration album and “Bakit Ba Ganyan” for *Hopia Mani Popcorn 2*). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/imago/

MOONSTAR88 - 2007 was also the year this band released their third album *Todo Combo*, their first in a couple of years. The album further cemented’s lead vocalist Maychelle Baay’s place in the band after taking over original vocalist Acel Bisa. www.moonstar88.tv

NYKO MACA+PLAYGROUND - people looking for adventurous music last year most likely enjoyed discovering this band. The band’s trademark of electronic samba rhythms captured the fancy of a lot of adventurous ears, most notably Cynthia Alexander, who agreed to do a collaborative set with the band for Jack Daniel’s fusion series. NM+PG is all set to release their debut album this year, their followers whetted their appetites last year with the band’s limited edition EP. nykomaca.multiply.com.

PAROKYA NI EDGAR - 2007 was like another day at the office for this hella funny band - endorserment deals and big gigs left and right…and yeah, another hit album *Solid*, featuring the single “Solid” and “Celfone Wallet” http://parokyaband.com

SINO SIKAT? - “Pinoy Soul!” was another big catchphrase from 2007. And no doubt, this band was hugely responsible for this. The boundaries formed around soul music, improvision, funk and good ol pinoy rock continued to break down like the walls of jericho with the release of their self-titled major label debut album. 2007 ended with a bang for this band with frontwoman Kat Agarrado hailed as Vocalist of the Year in the 2007 NU Rock Awards. http://www.myspace.com/sinosikat1
